Coach Clinics

Coach Clinics

All coaches’ are required to attend a coach clinic and get their license in order to coach.   Each coach gets a 1 year waiver if you can’t make the next class.  We are currently offering two classes. The “Grassroots Clinic” and “F” Classes.

1. Saturday, August 26th – KSC Coaches Meeting.
Please stay tuned for the email concerning the time slot for your Team’s age group to attend. Concluding the meeting you can proceed to obtaining your practice field and getting uniforms/equipment. I will be there along with several board members to discuss a few things to get you prepared for the upcoming season.

2. Sunday, August 27th – Grassroots Coaches Clinic.
One of our many goals at Klein Soccer Club is to continue equipping our coaches with the education and training needed to properly coach the game of soccer, and preferably by hosting training clinics and license courses at Meyer Park or surrounding Klein area sites.
If you are a coach planning to return next season and missed the opportunity to attend the February 2017 Grassroots Coaches Clinic, Klein Soccer Club is hosting another Grassroot Coaches Clinic Sunday August 27!!!
A representative from the South Texas Youth Soccer Association will be leading the training. This is a great foundation course for coaches within the U7-U10 age group. Training will consist of an afternoon classroom session, followed by a field training session. Registration and location details below.

Register through the STYSA website at and select the Klein Soccer Club event. Returning Coaches can register using there account login information, new coaches and parents interested in coaching will have to create a user login. There is a registration fee of $40 for the Grassroots Clinic. When registering, you must charge registration to a credit card; but upon course completion, KSC will fully reimburse KSC coaches for the registration fees.

In addition to taking the Grassroots Coaches Clinic, all Klein Soccer Club coaches are required to obtain the National US Soccer Federation (USSF) “F-level” coaching license within a year, and is open to all applicants at least 16 years of age. Prior to attending the classroom session it is strongly recommended that you take the US Soccer F-License course, because the Coaches Clinic training builds upon topics learned in the F-License course.

Classroom Session Location:
The classroom session will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn NW/Willowbrook (7979 Willow Chase, Houston Texas 77070) from 2:00pm-3:30pm. Bring paper to take notes in the classroom portion of the clinic.

Field Session Location:
Following the classroom session, the group will break for about 30 minutes and then resume the field session in the afternoon at Meyer Park (field TBD) from 4:00pm-6:00pm.

USSF F-License (2hrs, online):
The “F” license is a 2-hour course, conducted entirely online, intended for all parents and coaches of youth players. Go to STYSA’s website at to take the F-License.
Most of the time you will be on the playing field, learning and developing activities for use in your practices. You will get to play the roles of both player and coach, so dress for active play. Bring plenty of water and make sure you bring a soccer ball.
This Coaches Clinic usually fills up quickly…so I recommend signing up as soon as possible, then take the F-License online at your leisure and complete it prior to the classroom session. Print and bring a copy of your F-License to the classroom session.
For those planning to register for the Coaches Clinic, please give me a heads up so I can keep track of anticipated participation…thank you!

Coaches, feel free to contact me directly if you have an questions or feedback you’d like to share, and again, I thank all of you for volunteering your time and energy to coach. Looking forward to seeing all of the returning coaches this Fall.

Kind Regards,
Edward Lindsay
