Frequently Asked Questions about Klein Select Soccer
What is the connection between Klein Soccer and the Houston Dynamo? Is this the “real” Houston Dynamo or just another organization using the name?
Klein Soccer Club has partnered with the Houston Dynamo (MLS team). The partnership with the Houston Dynamo has created a select program within Klein Soccer called Klein Select Soccer.
All training and coaching will be conducted by full-time Houston Dynamo trainers and coaches. Partnering with the Houston Dynamo will create a clear pathway for success that was not available to select players before the partnership. Players must try out for the team and possess the skills necessary to become a member. Klein Select Soccer is specifically for boys, ages U11 – U16.
The training will be two outdoor training sessions and one futsal session. Training will likely be on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays, tentatively scheduled for 6:00pm – 7:30pm for the U11/U12 teams. Practice for the older age levels will be on the same days, but from 7:30pm – 9:00pm: Times will be confirmed once we know the total number of teams that we will be trained this season. The two outdoor training sessions will be at Meyer Park. Klein Soccer and the Houston Dynamo have also worked out an agreement with Legends Sports Complex for the Futsal training sessions.
Will the Klein Select teams have games every week? If so, who will the Klein Select Soccer teams play?
Each select team will be entered into a league. The U11 – 13 boys will be entered into the EDGL league (Division 1 – Qualifying). They will play against other club in the division (i.e. Eclipse, Houston Express, Texans, Albion, Alliance, etc.). Games will start in the middle of September and end just before Thanksgiving. Games will be played on Saturdays with the possibility of Sunday makeup games or re-scheduled games.
During the 10-game season, games will be played at Meyer Park, along with other parks in the greater Houston area (i.e. Dyess, Katy, El Franco, Dad Club, etc).
A complete schedule will be provided in late August or early September. Most games will be on Saturday, with the possibility of makeup games on Sunday.
Each team will be entered into a league with about 10 games per season. All games will be on Saturdays, with the potential for some makeup or re-scheduled games on Sunday. Each team will also play a couple of tournaments during the year that will involve a minimum of three games per tournament.
Klein Select Soccer Club fees will cost $1,400 per year (August – July). There will be the additional cost of team fees that will be collected by your team treasurer. Every team will have a volunteer-parent as a team manager and team treasurer. It can be two parents or one parent holding both positions.
The team fees will consist of additional league fees (referee fee, game fee, player registration fee, tournament fees). The team fees will be divided amongst the number of players on each team, and will vary slightly based on the number of tournaments and the location of the tournaments. On average, team fees should total $500 – $700 annually.
Yes, both Klein Select Soccer and the Houston Dynamo understand the need for a financial assistance program. There will be aid given to help lower the cost of the club dues. Financial aid is provided through funds made available by Dynamo Charities.
To fairly distribute available funds an in-depth application is required with supporting documentation. No applications will be considered without supplying supporting documentation. 100% scholarships are not awarded. After applying for financial assistance the balance of the program fees will be due. Payment plans are available and payments may be made by cash, check or Visa/MasterCard or debit cards.
All information pertaining to Scholarship will remain confidential.
Klein Soccer Club has several other programs. Our Division III league will place your son on a team to help develop his skills while giving him the opportunity to play every weekend. Games will be on Saturdays at local parks in the area. Meyer Park will be your home field, but because the Division III teams play against other teams in the greater Houston area, it will be necessary for them to travel to the opposing teams’ parks (i.e. Dyess, Lindsey Lions, Burroughs Park, etc.)
The coaches and trainers are full-time coaches and trainers from the Houston Dynamo youth program. These coaches will be fully engaged with each team and will not only be at practice, but at each of the games. Each team will be assigned a head coach and an assistant who will be responsible for training and game coverage.
